CUT-OUTS CYCLE

Since 2004

These works are inspired by Polish folk art and interpret the visual elements of Western pop culture that have entered the new reality of post-communist Poland. The works aim to recognize significant changes that have occurred not only in the political and social dimensions but also in the aesthetic realm. They take as their subjects motifs from the world of advertising and modern media, visualized in the same way that traditional folk artists depicted the surrounding nature. The combination of traditionally handcrafted cutouts with pop culture symbols illustrates a new way of perceiving Polish tradition in the globalized world.
