VIEWS 2022

Realized as part of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship.

VIEWS is a series of 10 paintings created using a once-forgotten technique of making images from straw. This technique involves attaching straw panels, previously cut from ironed and dyed straw, onto the canvas surface. It was most commonly used to construct small depictions of architecture and natural elements. In my project, I aim to use this traditional technique in a non-conventional and innovative way, employing it as a means of expressing contemporary themes. The main goal of the project is to preserve this niche technique from oblivion. It also places importance on the ecological context that this technique offers, as well as its potential for promoting culture by developing and modernizing native techniques and showcasing the contemporary world through its approach.
